Job Description Summary: This is a full-time, benefited position, responsible for the overall clinical direction of this growing nonprofit organization and its three Federally-Qualified Health Centers (Prineville, Bend and Madras). The Medical Director works closely with our 17 providers and oversees the clinical aspects and quality improvement of the organization. The Medical Director works .5 FTE as a provider, delivering quality care to their patient panel, and .5 FTE in an administrative leadership capacity.This position is responsible for overseeing health care delivery including planning, resource allocation, growth and development, regulatory compliance, quality, and efficiency. Supervisory responsibilities include site medical director staff and providers at the Prineville site (we have Site Medical Directors in Bend and Madras who oversee the providers at the site level). This position is a member of the Leadership Team and works closely with other Directors and Managers as well as the Board of Directors. The position is accountable and reports to the CEO.

Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical
-
Provide direct patient care, including preventive care, primary diagnosis and treatment and inpatient medical care if appropriate.

Serve as a preceptor to providers in training as needed.

Maintains strict patient confidentiality.

Maintains timely documentation in medical records in accordance with established clinic protocols.

Participates in quality improvement activities.
-
Provides after-hours call coverage as required by clinic policies.
-
Complies with OSHA regulations as well as all clinic safety standards.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory
-
Supervises site Medical Director staff and providers at the site location of individual practice.

Oversees Medical Director staff training and development. Approves all continuing medical education in accordance with established policies and/or contractual obligations.

Contributes to QIP staff training and development.

Evaluates or oversees timely annual evaluation of site Medical Director staff and clinical component of QI staff. Recommends merit increases to the CEO.

Develops and oversees (in conjunction with HR manager and site Medical Directors) recruitment and retention program for clinical providers.

Oversees the recruitment and orientation of provider staff.

Oversees new provider training and orientation.

Recommends candidates for hire to the Chief Executive Officer.

Promotes a sense of teamwork in the workplace.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Administrative
-
In partnership with site Medical Director staff and Director of Quality, develops, implements, and monitors appropriate standards of care, quality improvement indicators, patient care protocols including the Patient Centered Health Home through evidenced-based programs and processes.

Supports site Medical Directors in meeting and exceeding agreed upon goals and initiatives.

Participates in site provider meetings.

Serves as an active member of the Leadership Team and attends other administrative meetings as required.

Acts as Laboratory Director for purposes of CLIA compliance.

Oversees the clinical component of the quality improvement program. In partnership with site Medical Directors and Director of Quality, develops and implements QIP indicators.

Oversees credentialing and privileging of clinical providers.

Oversees clinical productivity, including working with site Medical Directors, CEO and CFO in goal setting during budgeting process. >

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a motivated, team player with initiative and a high level of proficiency in providing primary care, preferably to a safety net population. MD, DO, or FNP license in good standing required. Two years experience seeing patients in a similar setting required. Experience in clinical administration or leadership preferred.
Environment
The Medical Director Position is based in Mosaic Medical’s Prineville, Oregon community health center. This position will necessitate some travel across Central Oregon and to Mosaic Medical's Bend and Madras clinics as needed.
