BETTER CARE THROUGH TECHNOLOGY

Mosaic Medical is excited to bring the latest technology to its practices—Electronic Medical Records (EMR). EMR will help us to improve the care we provide our patients by making the fast and accurate exchange of critical health information possible. Here you’ll find some common questions about EMR. As with any other questions, for further information, please ask at your Mosaic Medical clinic.

What is EMR?
Electronic medical records provides a new, more secure way to update, store, and access your health information. EMR will eliminate the need for paper medical records

How is my health information stored now?
Currently, your health information is stored in a single paper chart. If you’re a long-term patient, your chart could be hundreds of pages long.

What kind of information will be included?
Information that’s commonly stored in your electronic medical record includes your most recent symptoms, past and current laboratory results, immunizations, and provider’s notes.

Why is EMR good for the planet?
EMR will eliminate the need for printing thousands of sheets of paper each day, dramatically reducing Mosaic Medical’s dependence on paper products.

Why is EMR good for patients?
Paper charts require the review of thousands of pieces of paper daily. EMR will make accessing your chart much easier for your primary care provider. This will mean more timely responses to your questions and more timely  return on prescription refills and lab results. Also, if you need to transfer care to another Mosaic Medical clinic, your health records will be instantly accessible to your new primary care provider.

When all Mosaic Medical clinics have successfully transitioned to EMR, MyChart will become available to patients. With your provider’s permission, MyChart will allow you to view your secure medical record from any web-enabled computer.

How secure is my information?

Mosaic Medical’s electronic medical records system uses all the necessary safeguards to ensure the privacy of your medical information. It limits employees’ access to your information based on their role in providing your care. The computer software protects your health information better than paper records and is more secure than even the software your bank or financial institution uses.

How will EMR effect my next appointment?

You’ll see a new computer in your exam room. Your provider will use this computer to view and update your medical record instead of writing notes in your paper chart. Your first appointments after EMR may take longer than usual as your provider and their support staff continue to learn the system. Mosaic Medical will provide extensive training for its staff and providers that will make this new learning process as easy as possible. You may be asked to update your health history more often. An accurate health history gives your health care provider the best information with which to treat you.
