Prenatal Care

Dr. Martin Smart offers prenatal care to expectant mothers in Mosaic Medical’s Madras clinic, providing direct care and maintaining close communication with delivering physicians at Madras Medical Group, creating a seamless experience for our patients from parental care at Mosaic Medical Madras through delivery at Mountain View Hospital by a Madras Medical Group physician, and postpartum care at Mosaic Medical Madras. Since the birth of this partnership in 2004, hundreds of women have received access to first-trimester prenatal care. Many of these women would otherwise never had access to these services at such a critical time.

Health Promoters

In 2009, Mosaic Medical Madras was awarded Federal funds to initiate a community health worker outreach program. A coordinator works at the Madras site to train and supervise a team of bilingual health promoters.

Targeting individuals and families who have not had consistent access to primary care, health promoters attend community events and visit community members in their homes, providing culturally-appropriate education about primary care and prenatal care services in addition to hygiene and other important personal health topics to individuals of all ages. Each Promotora de Salud is also certified to educate and assist families in the process of applying for Healthy Kids insurance coverage.

Promotoras bring important information back to our clinic about the barriers to care that exsist in our community, whether it be lack of knowledge about available options, lack of insurance, or poor past experience with customer service during their last health care visit.

Promotoras de Salud build a bridge between the community and the local health care system, increasing access and facilitating communication and assist community members in getting much-needed services (health care or social services). They are a valuable part of our enabling services staff.
